JOB SUMMARY In this full-time role, you are responsible for leading the activities of the second shift, including safety, 5S, quality, training productivity, and scheduling activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise the daily activities of the assigned department/shift. Oversee the functions of hourly personnel, including safety, 5S, quality, training, productivity, scheduling, and progress reporting. Review and analyze data such as job orders, design prints, and product specifications. Assign tasks and inspect work for accuracy, quality, and conformance to policies and procedures. Confer with the appropriate personnel to resolve problems and conflict. Leads and participates in continuous improvement projects.
PROFILE LEVEL DESCRIPTION Manage employees and supervisors; may manage technical/business support or production/operation staff. Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and customers. Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Has wide latitude for decision-making.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide formal supervision to professional employees and/or supervisors. Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and/or customers. Approve recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination. Plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepare and deliver performance appraisal for staff. Mentor and coach team members to further develop competencies.
QUALIFICATIONS Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required. Education: High school diploma or equivalency (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Excellent reading, writing, communication, mathematical, and leadership skills. Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and costs. Solid knowledge of specific and general quality and safety policies and procedures. Physical Demands: Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping/using hands/reaching. Spends app. 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing.
