Central Electric Power Cooperative has an excellent opportunity available for the position of CFO/Vice President of Finance. This position reports directly to the CEO/General Manager and will be responsible for the supervision and oversight of the cooperative’s finance department, accounts payable, purchasing department, a $20+ million dollars warehouse inventory, and all other aspects of accounting and budgeting.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Maintaining the financial stability of the cooperative through timely and accurate reporting of operating results, and maintenance of adequate cash flow; • Maintain and safeguard the assets of the retirement program and individual accounts of the participants in accordance with plan documents as established by the Board of Directors and in accordance with federal rules and regulations; • Develop, coordinate, and arrange for timely completion of the Cooperative annual audit and annual report; • Work closely with the Vice President of Engineering and Vice President of Operations to manage and supervise the procurement of materials, inventories, supplies, equipment, services etc., in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner for the construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission system; • Prepare budgets and financial forecasts for the cooperative, and other studies as required. • Safeguard the cooperative's assets by bidding, acquiring, and maintaining adequate insurance for the cooperative; • Maintain a benefit program relating to the Pension, 401K, and 125 Plans as authorized by the Board of Directors and CEO/General Manager of the Cooperative. • Financing via market lending options to support ongoing Transmission grid rebuilding and expansion projects for Central Electric Power Cooperative.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Rural Utilities Services (RUS) accounting procedures. Must be familiar with requirements of CFC, CoBank and Federal Financing Bank lending regulations. Knowledge of budgeting methods, accounting, insurance, taxes, banking employee benefit plans, insurance, risk management and other financial matters. Experience with a Generation and Transmission (G&T) Cooperative is desired but not required. Must demonstrate accuracy, integrity and confidentiality. Must demonstrate initiative and motivation to organize and complete tasks and meet deadlines, acts independently and with minimum supervision and direction. Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. Team player. Neatness, attention to detail, diplomacy, and above-average skill and ability to work with other employees. The successful candidate should have experience in a leadership role and must possess a minimum of 5-8 years of progressive utility experience in Accounting and Finance. Interested candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s Degree in these areas and/or a CPA designation is not required but is highly preferred.
