Scope of the Position:
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, capacity building and programs. The ED is the ultimate internal decision-maker on operational decisions (consulting with staff in thoughtful consideration of the institutional memory and knowledge they hold) and checking with the Board of Directors on any decisions with larger policy implications for Friends of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion (FMGM). The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors to support and facilitate effective oversight and direction setting.
Mission:
FMGM is the official nonprofit supporting organization of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion and work in partnership with the State of Missouri to meet the needs of the Mansion. Our mission is to preserve the Mansion, it’s history and historical treasures for all Missourians to enjoy.
Specific Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Human Resources: Overall responsibility for development, support, and retention of staff and volunteers, including specific responsibility for working collaboratively with internal staff and volunteers as well as Mansion staff and the First Family.
- Fund Development: oversee implementation of strategies to build productive relationships and generate continuing support from foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. Develop, oversee implementation, and monitor financial outcomes from current projects.
- Financial Management: continuous monitoring of financial performance, and development and implementation of revisions to financial strategies as needed. Ensure the maintenance of effective systems for service delivery through budget to actual reporting and the use of fiscal data as a management tool for decisions and timely financial reports to the board of directors.
- Planning and Evaluation: engage the Board and staff in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of FMGM’s services and in business planning to identify program, financial, and infrastructure development goals and strategies.
- Community and Partner Relationships: Build awareness of the impact of FMGM work and role in and across the state. Sustain relationships with key nonprofit, business, and governmental partners to better serve the needs of FMGM’s mission.
- Board Support: facilitate effective board participation in business planning, financial oversight, community outreach, and fundraising.
Qualifications:
- Seasoned nonprofit manager with successful senior level experience managing an organization (programs, strategy, human resources, finances, and systems/infrastructure).
- Strategic thinker who is good at making decisions with an understanding of how they impact the big picture.
- Team builder who is good with coaching staff and volunteers to performance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High integrity and professional ethics.
- Strong strategic fiscal management, oversight and budgeting skills.
- Ability to maintain relationships with external stakeholders and funders.
- Good understanding of the operational and back-office systems and infrastructure of a nonprofit (HR, Finance, IT, etc.)
- Experience working with boards of directors and social media preferred.
Pay Range: Salary commensurate with experience.
