Perform professional accounting and administrative work, which assists in maintaining the University accounting functions and responsibilities, and exercise independent judgment and discretion in planning and carrying out the duties of work procedures. Assists with post-award management of sponsored grants and contracts to include review of expenditures and preparation of billing statements. Supports the department with preparation of special reports; analysis and proposing adjusting entries.
Assist accounting with monthly recording of charges for advertising, telecommunications, printing, postage, inventory reconciliation and other journal entries. Performs a variety of moderately complex accounting duties in accordance with GAAP. Provides support for monthly monitoring and analysis of activity in the University's general ledger. Provides support in external annual audit processes. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant VPAF/Controller.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business related field required. Two or more years work experience in professional environment preferred. Experience in higher education or governmental accounting preferred. Aptitude in accountancy and a good understanding of computers and their functions in accounting. Demonstrated working knowledge of personal computer software with proficiency in word processing spreadsheet and database software preferred. Quantitative aptitude and ability to analyze qualitative information for report creations and interpretation. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
